In the north-east of England, Volvo strikes hard

The British company Skillings Crushing Construction has two Volvo excavators exclusively dedicated to demolition work. These two machines are dedicated to the demolition of 4 drinking water tanks near Doncaster, in the north-east of England.

Established nearly 20 years ago, Burnley-based Skillings Crushing Construction has built its reputation in the UK on large demolition and sanitation projects. It has a fleet of 20 machines including 2 shovels, 2 crushers and a crawler bulldozer.

The first 70 t Volvo excavator (one EC700) is equipped with a hammer to break up slabs and foundations of reinforced concrete of medium thickness. It is also specially reinforced for demolition work. With the second Volvo excavator (an EC300E), it grinds the concrete and separates the material from the metal fittings. Both machines are equipped with demolition clamps that can be rotated 360 °.

On a construction site in northeastern England, the shovels are responsible for demolishing 4 drinking water tanks near Doncaster. The approximately 5,000 m3 of concrete waste is treated by a crusher at the site to produce aggregates. Each year, the company processes about 400,000 m3 of concrete (800,000 t).
