In the small Dutch town of Zwolle, a monstrous Volvo excavator EC480EHR with high lift is engaged to demolish what once was a part of the Weezenlanden Hospital. "It’s a demolition with high precision," notes Erik Zwerver, Sales Manager of Boverhoff, one of the largest demolition companies of the country. "Everyone thinks that demolition is a dirty and rugged work but it’s rather a precision work”.
Instead of the Hospital dated 1960, nearly 300 houses will be built, therefore this project makes this demolition site one of the biggest projects in Netherlands. It is also the first project using the new series E of Volvo CE demolition excavator. The excavator is in fact the ideal machine for this type of project. Its extended-range allows the dismantling of the hospital buildings brick by brick. With the forthcoming delivery of a multitasking boom extension, the working height should be increased up to 31 m.
Specifically, Boverhoff has over 20 crawler excavators of 30T, half of them are Volvo excavators. All Volvo machines were provided by the Volvo CE dealer Kuiken, including the delivery of EC380E.
