Egypt: natural stone will increase by 15% by 2020

The Egyptian market of marble, granite and alabaster ranks 8th in the world. Exports of natural stone have increased by 490% over the past 8 years and despite a slight decline in exports due to lower demand in China, the sector is expected to grow by 15% annually over the next 4 years.

In 2020, therefore, natural stone production in Egypt is expected to reach 650 000 t. A figure from the Egyptian report which will be presented in Cairo at the 3rd edition of MS Marmomacc and Samoter Africa (10 to 13 December), which will be held simultaneously at Projex Africa.

It is expected that 100 exhibitors from Egypt, Italy, China, Brazil, Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates will be exhibiting in three halls and a demonstration area of 6,000 m². In this context, Italy is the second largest supplier of stone processing machines with € 2.4 billion turnover in 2015 and the 6th largest importer of uncut Egyptian marble blocks.
