The extension of the Purple Line subway in Los Angeles, should ensure the improvement of the public transport system of the Californian town, connecting the western part of the metropolitan and the rail network in the region, and this is expanding sharply. The Phase 1 of the expansion should provide a fast and reliable service to several popular neighborhoods of the city. Overall, the planning of the project began in 2007, and Cemex has been selected in view of its experience in this type of projects, and it was clearly sought to minimize disruption to the daily lives of residents in the impacted areas : indeed, the cement manufacturer has already involved in another metro extension in the same city of Los Angeles, the Gold line, there was about ten years ago. In the end, Cemex will provide 250 000 m3 of ready-mixed concrete for the Purple Project, which must be completed in 2023 and this project will include a section of 6.3 km double track, and 3 underground stations in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.
