Iveco contributes to waste collection in Madrid

In Spain, Madrid City Council has acquired 109 new Stralis fueled with compressed natural gas for public waste collection in the capital. These trucks are exclusively produced at the Iveco factory in Madrid.

Vehicles purchased by the Madrid City Council include 90 Stralis AD260S33YPS CNG and 19 Stralis AD190S33 / P CNG, respectively equipped with a Ros Roca manifold of 19 m3 and 12 m3. They are equipped with an Iveco Cursor 8 compressed natural gas (CNG) engine delivering 330 hp and an automatic transmission with integrated retarder. With 8 compressed natural gas tanks, the AD260S33YPS version has a capacity of 640 l and 600 l for the version AD190S33 / P.

The natural gas, stored at a pressure of 200 bar in the gaseous state, is reduced in two stages by the regulator before being injected into the engine. It is cleaner than fossil fuels and generates a 95% reduction for pollutant emissions, 35% for nitrogen oxides and 10% for carbon dioxide. 85 t of pollution in the atmosphere are thus eliminated. In addition, the engine is between 50% and 75% quieter than a Euro 6 diesel engine.
