The cell phone market in France counts 70.9 millions active users which means about 1,0641 cell phones per user. To this day, 100 millions of cell phones lie in drawers. Yes, one can recycle a cell phone.

Some 24.6 millions of cell phones had been sold in 2015 where 90% are new and 84% are smartphones. When time comes to renew, 41% are kept, 31% are taken back and 14% are discarded. In all, 100 millions of cell phones lie in drawers and 10 millions join those every year.

Did you know that 73.7% of a cell phone parts can be recycled? Their components are valuable as to obtain a kilogram of gold, one must recycle about 35,000 cell phones. It is a market. To recycle 12,000 cell phones, one job is created therefore 8,300 jobs are needed to dismantle all these cell phones. The emitted carbon dioxide represent about 50 trips to the Moon and 140 millions euros in value.
