100 000 electric cars in France in 2016

Mrs. Ségolène Royal French Environment Minister had announced on the occasion of the Paris Motor Show held in Paris, that the number of electric cars has reached 100 000 units in 2016 in France. The growth will be promoted in the coming years.

With 32,000 of cars registrations in 2016, the number of electric vehicles has tripled since 2014. To support this acceleration, Segolene Royal announced the creation of a million charging stations for electric vehicles. The individuals should profit of 900,000 charging stations, for which nearly 30% will be financed by the tax credit of energy transition, and for the public some 100 000 charging stations are announced.

Additional measures will be implemented for individuals such as bonus malus and the conversion premium to boost the transition to clean vehicles (€ 10,000) and the creation of a bonus of 1 000€ for two electric wheels . For businesses, the government expects raising the depreciation ceiling of low-emission vehicles amounting from € 18,300 to € 30,000 and also financing the mechanization project for the sector of biogas with a target of 20% of consumption for vehicle GNV in 2023.

State and local governments could benefit loans for green growth from the french Funds for Deposits and Consignments to local authorities (5 billion €), and the funding to the territories of positive energy.
