Kribi seaport project second phase is launched in Cameroon

China’s Eximbank $673M loan agreement signed with Cameroonian government in Yaoundé, on April 4, has contributed to the expansion second stage start.

Located 200km south of Cameroon’s capital city, Douala, the Kribi deep water seaport project second phase mainly consists of extending the 700M container terminal to 1050M.

China’s Eximbank finances the second phase that is handled by the Chinese company CHEC. It includes 250m adjacent wharf construction, the creation of terminals for aluminum, hydrocarbons and liquefied natural gas, an iron mineral deposit of 24 meters of draft as well as additional facilities and equipment for an activity exceeding 3 million tons per year.

The Kribi deep water seaport project covers 26,000 hectares in the Gulf of Guinea and is expected to be completed before 2020.
