US Army Corps of Engineers to build Kuwait airbase

US State Department has announced on April 6 a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Kuwaiti Government for Al Mubarak airbase construction and facilities support service.

Valued at $319M, the airbase development is to be handled by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The American organization is to provide among other services, project management, engineering services, facility and infrastructure assessments, design, acquisition and construction management.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) ‘s statement said: “The proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by supporting the infrastructure needs of a friendly country which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.”

Al Mubarak airbase development project is to feature in part, a main operations center, hangars, barracks, warehouses and support facilities.
