Seattle: cranes stretching into the distance

Housing construction is in full boom in the city of the North-West of the United States, nicknamed “Capital of the crane”.

Seattle surpassed New York in the number of cranes in operation (62) in 2016. Real estate sector is flourishing. 10,000 new apartments will be created in 2017, much more than in the preceding years. But do not see extravagance there. The city is facing a lack of available housings.

After the 2008 crisis, the economy recovered thanks to the installation of companies like Twitter, Apple or Facebook. Seattle has regained its attractiveness. Newcomers are setting up in the city to work there.

In spite of the building of new housings, inhabitants are having difficulties finding a roof. Real estate prices skyrocketed. As the nearby city of Vancouver has imposed a tax on foreign investors, Seattle has become very appealing.
