Located on the Jhelum River which runs through the Punjab region and Azad Kashmir administrative division, the Karot hydropower project is presented to have a 95m tall dram and four headrace tunnels. Moreover, a new bridge across the river and a flood flows managing spillway structure are planned to be built.

Mott MacDonald’s project director, Brian Minhinick said: “We are proud to be supporting this milestone project, continuing our leading role in developing Pakistan’s hydropower resource. Once complete, Karot will play a key role in helping address the shortfall in generation capacity by creating a long-term, sustainable power supply.”
The British company mission is now to perform construction monitoring services covering technical, environmental and social matters.
The hydropower should meet completion in 2021.
