London: The Post Building project is underway

Laing O’Rourke has started the construction of the benchmark workplace that will replace the Royal Mail Sorting Office in Holborn district.

The Post Building redevelopment project first phase to demolish the former 1960s Royal Mail Office is completed. Now, the following modifications can begin. They consist in the upgrading of the infrastructure insides, the modification of the façade into a stainless one and a new office accommodation construction.

The British international engineering firm, Laing O’Rourke is in charge of the project that is scheduled to complete in 2018.

Laing O’Rourke’s UK Construction Head, Liam Cummins said: “We are proud to be working with both Oxford Properties and Brockton Capital on what we think will become an iconic London building. Work has already begun on site and we are looking forward to bringing the client’s vision to fruition.”

The Post Building is located in the Knowledge Quarter in London and is planned to be 6 meters high from floor to ceiling with a 320,000 sq ft with roof terraces and one-acre floorplates. A 7,500 square feet rooftop with a 360 degree views is also included in the project.

It is also planned to have a 270,000 sq ft of offices with 130,000 for the company McKinsey as well as twenty-one apartments.

Local council is working on surrounding public areas improvements with the project to reopen the historic Dunn’s Passage.
