The country’s cement sector had faced a fall of 13% year-on-year in production volume in January, a drop it had not seen since 2001.

In the north and the center of India, prices have been up Rs10-30 per bag on most markets in February and March. According to an analyst, it is usual to note increase in cement price at this period of the year as the construction activity flourishes.
