Huningue: the banks of the Rhine in reconversion

The three architects Laisne Roussel, Pietri Architectes and Triptych won the international competition for the reconversion of the banks of the Rhine in the Basel agglomeration in Huningue.

Located on the banks of the Rhine, at the intersection of France, Switzerland and Germany, the new district of Les Jetées will consist of 19,338 m² of housing, i.e. 4 buildings, an office building of 5,086 m², 1,366 m² of shops, a hotel of 90 rooms of 4 433 m ² and a parking silo of 196 places.

This competition won by the three agencies is part of the 3Land project: in 2012, the cities of Basel (Switzerland), Huningue (France) and Weil-am-Rhein (Germany) signed a joint planning agreement with the aim of creating a real cross-border neighborhood. In this context, the 3Land project foresees the creation of a housing, leisure and tourism center in Huningue. The site of the banks has been identified as an anchor point of this new pole.

The site of the banks, facing the three borders, represents a unique opportunity for the city of Huningue: to open its city center on the river, but also to strengthen its influence within the Bâloise agglomeration of Huningue , Weil-am-Rhein and Basel. The architects of the laisné roussel agencies, Pietri Architectes and Triptyque were chosen to carry out this project.
