The BFUP of Eiffage awarded by the American Concrete Institute

The international memorial of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, made in BSI, the fiber concrete with ultra-high performance of Eiffage, built by Eiffage Civil Engineering, won the prize of "ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Award" by the American Concrete Institute.

For the record, the American Concrete Institute (ACI) is the research organization with some 20,000 members in the worldwide. The prize "ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Award" rewards the achievements implementing the exemplary innovative technologies and an original use of concrete. This award was attributed to the memorial in category "Infrastructure".

The construction, designed by the architect Philippe Prost for Regional Council of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais (Northern region) comes in the form of a huge semi-elliptical ring of 129 m by 75 m, consisting of 122 voussoirs and 1073 other prefabricated pieces (slabs, consoles of the gallery, caps) in BSI. Anchored in the ground about two thirds of its perimeter, it detaches itself to suit the slope of the land and its cantilever reminds visitors the fragility of peace.
This memorial (the largest in the world) recalls the names of 600,000 soldiers died on the battlefields of the region between 1914 and 1918.
